Code on Wages, 2019

The Code on Wages, 2019 consolidates and amends the laws relating to wages and bonus. It subsumes four existing laws: the Payment of Wages Act, 1936; the Minimum Wages Act, 1948; the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965; and the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976. The Code aims to universalize minimum wage provisions across all workers and simplify compliance for employers.

Code on Social Security, 2020

The Code on Social Security, 2020 consolidates nine central labour laws relating to social security, including the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952; the Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948; and the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961. It extends social security benefits to gig workers and platform workers for the first time.

Code on Industrial Relations, 2020

The Industrial Relations Code, 2020 consolidates three central labour laws: the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947; the Trade Unions Act, 1926; and the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946. It introduces provisions for fixed-term employment, re-skilling fund, and a simplified process for strikes and lock-outs.

Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC), 2020

The OSHWC Code, 2020 consolidates thirteen central labour laws relating to safety, health and working conditions, including the Factories Act, 1948; the Mines Act, 1952; and the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996. It provides for a single registration for establishments, duty of employers regarding safety, and mandatory health check-ups.
