What is Professional Tax?

Professional Tax is a state-level tax levied on individuals earning income through employment, profession, trade, or calling. It is deducted by employers from employee salaries and remitted to the respective state government. The maximum annual PT is capped at Rs. 2,500 as per the Constitution.
